Velvet Sky Resumes Flights

The Airports Company SA (Acsa) has confirmed that Velvet Sky resumes flights on Friday at around 2:30 pm after many morning delays and flight cancelations yesterday.  The first flight of the airline's to depart was the OR Tambo International Airport to King Shaka International Airport, which was originally set to depart at 6:20 am.  More flights will take off during the afternoon.

Gary Webb, a spokesperson for Velvet Sky, said that they airline had delays and cancelations on Thursday due to a dispute with a service provider.  The process of changing service providers was not wrapped up in time for the Thursday flights to operate as scheduled.  He said there was a lot of paperwork involved, but the process is complete and now they are operating legally.  Velvet Air is based in Durban and flies between Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Polokwane.
