Oakland International Airport is an international airport in Oakland, California, United States. It is located approximately 10 miles south of Downtown Oakland and across from San Francisco which is situated on the other side of the San Francisco Bay. It is owned by the Port of Oakland and features passenger services to cities in the United States, Mexico, and Europe with additional cargo destinations in China and Japan. In 2018, 13,594,251 people traveled through OAK.
Oakland is an operating base for Southwest Airlines and a focus city for Allegiant Air. As of August 2015 Southwest has 120 daily departures on peak-travel days of the week making it Southwest’s largest operation in California. Alaska Airlines combined with sister-carrier Horizon Air has been the second-busiest carrier at the airport through 2013.
