Southwest Airlines has announced their plans to open a new flight crew base in Denver. The pilot crew base will open in October of this year and the flight attendant base will open sometime during the fourth quarter of this year. The new base will service more than 4000 flight attendants and 250 pilots and has room to grow as required. Their lounges of the base will be located on the third floor of concourse C at Denver International Airport.
Mike Van de Ven, Southwest's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said that Denver is the fastest growing city in the history of the airline and the new crew base is a demonstration if the commitment Southwest has to the region. Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock stated that they are pleased that the airline is making such a lasting commitment to the city. It is an investment in the city's economy and it will strengthen the business climate.
