Today Southwest Airlines and their wholly-owned subsidiary AirTran, announced their new schedule through November 2, 2012. Southwest will be offering new nonstop service between Las Vegas and Detroit and AirTran will be offering new nonstop service between Chicago Midway and Des Moines. Southwest will also be offering two daily nonstop flights between San Francisco and Atlanta (transitioning this route from AirTran to Southwest) and one daily nonstop flight between Orlando and Atlanta (with AirTran to continue offering its nine daily flights between these destinations).
Bob Jordan, Southwest Airlines Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer and AirTran Airways President, said that the two airlines are continuing to make changes to their flight schedules to ensure the best possible flight schedule for passengers. The new route between Las Vegas and Detroit has an introductory fare starting from $99 one-way, which can be purchased through February 27 for travel between September 30 and November 2, 2012.
