Allegiant Airlines will begin flights from the Gary/Chicago International Airport to Orlando Sanford International Airport on Wednesday. The airline is based out of Las Vegas and is all about vacations in the travel industry. This is great news for Gary, a this is the first passenger service the airport has seen since Skybus Airlines folded three years ago.
Flights will take place twice a week. Wil Davis, owner of the Gary Jet Center, says the airline is legitimate and it's the first one they have had. All the others were start-ups that were not ready to be successful. Allegiant is a different kind of airline, specializing in vacations and arranging for hotels, shows, cruises, and more bundled together in a vacation package.
