AirAsia India has gotten a license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to begin operations.
According to the CEO of AirAsia, this license is a huge deal for the airline, which previously had a hard time getting into the Indian market. Other Indian carriers opposed the entry.
AirAsia India’s CEO said the airline will begin with three Airbus A320 jets and will add one jet per month during the first year.
The airline will keep costs low with a hub in Chennai, with other hubs in Bangalore and Kochi. The more expensive routes to Mumbai and New Delhi won’t be on the schedule.
