In the past few weeks, Frontier Airlines has increased the number of flights operated out of Trenton-Mercer Airport to 10 destinations. They are averaging five flights per day. However, while these additional flights are a boon to the airport and the airline’s customers, there have been major parking problems due to the increase in traffic. Full parking lots and an abundance of parking tickets has prompted county freeholders to ask the administration to come up with an ordinance for parking at the airport.
The airport has a freshly paved auxiliary parking lot and extra long-term parking, yet there are still few spaces to be found. Freeholder Andre Koontz said that in response, people are finding ingenious ways to park, but some of the parking being done isn’t legal. Koontz said they are all over the place. It is a big problem that will take time to solve, but Freeholder Lucylle Walter has suggested implementing a short-term ordinance in the meantime.
