Transport Canada proposing new rules for flight attendants
The Canadian agency responsible for regulating air travel is proposing to change the rules regarding how many flight attendants are required on flights.
According to a notice of proposed amendment put up last week, Transport Canada will consider allowing airlines to choose between one flight attendant for every 50 seats or one flight attendant for every 40 passengers. Once chosen, the airlines will not get to switch back and forth between the ratios.
Sunwing and WestJet Airlines were given permission last year to operate with the 1 to 50 ratio last year and other airlines have been asking for the same permission.
