Today, Aer Lingus announced that they will be entering into a interline and code-sharing agreement with Etihad Airways. Aer Lingus will share on flights between Abu Dhabi and Dublin and they will give Etihad access to flights that connect with many destinations beyond Abu Dhabi, including Australia, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. In return, Aer Lingus will enjoy Etihad connections from Dublin to London, Edinburgh, New York, Boston, Lisbon, and more.
The interline and code-sharing agreement will go into effect during the third quarter of 2012 and will offer customers of both airlines a broader range of options when it comes to destinations. Aer Lingus Chief Executive, Christoph Mueller said that the deal supports Aer Lingus' long-term goal of providing improved access and choice to their customers. He also said they are happy to welcome Etihad as a partner.
