Cologne airport was shut down and flights temporarily grounded earlier Monday after a suspicious man “breached security.” The man was able to get through security without being checked by entering the secure area through a door next to a supermarket. He then entered the air-side area. At least five flights from that terminal already on the tarmac and ready to take off had to return to the terminal and passengers were told to leave the planes. The terminal was also evacuated and everyone’s identity was checked again. Terminal 2 services were not affected. The man has since been arrested.
