Virgin Atlantic is now planning on increasing its shuttle service from Accra to London to seven days per week, according to Jonathan Harding, the General Manager of International and Distribution. Just a short two years after Virgin acquired its license from Ghana they started operating three flights per week and that was quite recent. Now the airline will be offering daily flights. While Virgin Atlantic is not forthcoming with the time line for this new development, analysts say it may happen soon.
Mr. Harding said that the more frequency they offer travellers, the more convenient it is for them. He also said that they are fortunate to be able to fly to Ghana, the airline's fifth destination in Africa. The market potential is great because of growing business and the increase in leisure travellers to the region. This is the result of political stability and the country's strong economic performance, helped, in part, by the country's growing oil industry.
