Philippine Airlines flights from Manila to Riyadh and Manila to Dammam have resumed and this has been met with a very positive response. According to the Philippine Embassy, most of the flights in December 2013 are fully booked. Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday that they are very happy to welcome Philippine Airlines back to Saudi Arabia. The ceremony was held at Terminal 1 at King Khalid International Airport.
The first flight was operated on Sunday on a twin-engine Airbus A330-300 and the flight number was PR 564. Captain Jose Reginald David was assisted by Captain Ruel V. Isaac and Second Officer Erik Lee Isaac. Tuesday will see the inaugural flight to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. Philippines Airlines initially began flights to Saudi Arabia in 1982, but had to cease flights after the airline was crippled by flight and ground crew strikes.
