After security officials at the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport in Montreal found a suspicious package near the U.S. customs area yesterday morning, Montreal police evacuated several homes and searched a house.
The suspicious suitcase, which was found shortly before 6 am, caused delays and panic in the airport. It was removed and analyzed, and a man in his 70s was later arrested. The suitcase did not contain explosives, although police have yet to reveal what was inside.
At least 16 flights headed to the United States were grounded until the police operation was concluded. Certain parts of the airport were evacuated for safety reasons.
