SilkAir is happy to announce that they have launched their very first flight to Darwin, which is the capital city in Australia's Northern Territory. The inaugural flight was MI801 and it departed Singapore Changi Airport on Monday at 7:55 am. The flight arrived in Darwin at 2:05 pm where there was a welcoming ceremony. The return flight, MI802, departed at 3:10 pm and arrived back in Singapore at 6:10 pm.
The SilkAir flight to Darwin will operate four days a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on either Airbus A319 or A320 aircraft. Passengers on the inaugural flight were served a complimentary drink and were given a gift from Darwin, a notebook featuring the contemporary artwork of the Northern Territory's most accomplished aboriginal artists on the cover. SilkAir's Chief Executive, Mr. Marvin Tan, said that SilkAir is delighted to proved full-service flights between Singapore and Darwin.
