Air Malta is changing its electronic device policy, joining the new technological era. Starting on June 1, passengers on Air Malta flights will be able to use their electronic devices, such as phones and tablets, during the entire length of the flight, from takeoff to landing, provided those devices are set to “flight mode.” Using flight mode means that phone calls are still not allowed, but passengers can still play games, use their camera, read eBooks, and listen to music.
Philip Saunders, Air Malta’s Chief Commercial Officer, said the airline is very pleased to offer their passengers the opportunity to use their electronic gadgets during all phases of flight. Saunders said this new development should be very popular, especially with their frequent fliers. Being able to take photographs during takeoff and landing will be possible now and Saunders encourages passengers to upload their pics to the airline’s Facebook page once they have landed.
