Power outage at Vancouver airport causes flight disruptions
A brief power outage on May 23 at Vancouver International Airport caused disruptions and annoyance for passengers.
According to a spokesperson for the airport, the 40-minute blackout started around 7 in the morning and only affected the domestic terminal. This terminal handles all the flights for destinations within Canada.
Power was restored quickly but it took a while before the airport’s systems got back in running order. No one confirmed how many flights were affected, but it was “more than a handful,” whatever that means. Travelers had to wait to check in and move through security.
The spokesperson for the airport said all the passengers were urged to contact the airline via email or phone to find out the latest information. As usual, all travelers should leave time when traveling.
