One of the UK’s top travel agents has been accused of cheating customers. Flight Centre has been investigated by a Channel 4 show called “Dispatches.” The investigation shows staff on film discussing the tricks they use to mark up the prices. Investigator Harry Wallop and his mother-in-law went to different branches asking about flights to New York, all for the same day. Wallop told staff he had checked prices online; he was quoted £494 (US$716). His mother-in-law, who hadn’t checked online prices, was quoted £610 (US$884). Flight Centre has dismissed the differing prices, saying that the fact that the prices quoted for the same flight is “extraordinary” and “one isolated example.”
