On Monday, WestJet Airlines announced that as of this fall they will no longer be operating direct flights from London International Airport to Winnipeg. Mike Seabrook, president and CEO of the airport, said that the loss of these flights in disappointing, but that they understand the airlines have to fly profitable routes in these difficult times. Between last November and April, WestJet had been operating three flights per day between London and Winnipeg, but these flights will cease come this November.
Jennifer Sanford, a spokesperson for WestJet, said that they will re-evaluate the route for next summer and Seabrook said that he is confident the service will resume next May.
