Bali flights canceled by Virgin Australia due to volcanic ash
On Wednesday, Virgin Australia canceled all flights from and to Bali because of the return of a volcanic ash cloud. A total of 10 flights were canceled after the volcanic ash advisory centre said that it wasn’t safe to fly near Denpasar airport. The airline said that an update for Thursday’s flights would be posted around 6 pm AEST. A spokesperson said “We continue to monitor the situation closely. The safety of our guests and crew is our highest priority and we will keep customers updated as new information becomes available.”
Mount Raung put out ash clouds earlier this month, forcing Denpasar airport to close. Both Jetstar and Virgin flights were disrupted and thousands of Australians were stranded in Bali.
