The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has given two of the country’s largest airlines approval to offer regular flights to Iran. Ural Airlines and S7 Airlines applied for permission to offer these flights after Tehran and Moscow signed a memorandum to increase the number of flights to 28 each week. A spokesperson for S7 Airlines said they have been assigned four routes but “the frequency of flights and opening dates are unknown so far.”
Right now, Aeroflot flies to Tehran four times per week and Iran Air goes only once per week. An Iranian charter airline, Mahan Air, is supposed to start flights to Sochi this summer.
