Three months ago, Tampa International Airport cut their flights to Holguin, Cuba, but on Thursday they announced that they would be reinstating those flights on a seasonal basis. Beginning on June 11, ABC Charters is scheduled to conduct a weekly flight to Holguin, which is a beach town located about 500 miles from Havana. The flights will operate every Tuesday between June and August and again in December and January.
Airport CEO Joe Lopano said that these flight dates will allow them to accommodate seasonal travelers as well as those traveling during the Christmas holidays. The airport lost two of its five weekly flights to Cuba in February when ABC Charters, which also flies to Havana on Satrudays, canceled the flights due to lack of interest. This came as a blow because they are looking to increase the number of international travelers they serve.
