The very first United Airlines flight from Chicago to Atlantic City landed on Tuesday, in what officials hope will breathe some fresh air into the Atlantic City economy.
United will offer one roundtrip flight from Chicago and Houston every day, under the United Express carrier ExpressJet banner. These flights seat 50 people.
According to the Port Authority, the Atlantic City International Airport can handle up to 300 flights every day, but as of 2013, there were only 27 per day. This partnership between the Atlantic City airport and two large hub airports, authorities hope some positive developments for economic stimulation of Atlantic City will be a result.
