As of 7 am Wednesday, almost 250 flights into and out of Toronto Pearson International Airport were canceled due to a major winter storm that covered Southern Ontario Tuesday afternoon and overnight. More snow was forecast for Tuesday and officials at Pearson sent out a tweet saying to check with airlines before heading to the airport. By 7 am, 81 departures and 165 arrivals had been canceled, which makes up almost one-third of all the flights for the day. The winter weather system brought up to 25 cm (9.9 inches) of snow, causing slippery driving conditions as well. Some public transportation services were also affected.
