Early this month, Air Canada changed its change-flight fee for Flex and Tango fares. Now customers have to pay an additional $25 plus the difference in cost if the flight is more expensive, depending on when the change is made. The new fee is in effect for up to two hours prior to departure. This brings the fee for Tango from $75 to $100 and the fee for Flex from $50 to $75 plus the cost of the fare difference. A spokesperson said the fees were reviewed after remaining the same for several years.
WestJet's fees kick in if changes are made more than 24 hours after booking the flight, and range from $50 to $59 for Flex fare, $75 to $88.50 for Econo fare, and the cost of the fare difference for Plus fare.
