Various factors result in canceled flights

It seems as though St. John's International Airport just can't catch a break lately. There have been all kinds of flight delays once again, which marks the second time in under one week. Once again the blame is being put on the runway construction project that is on-going, in addition to bad weather. There were dozens of flight cancellations on Wednesday and Thursday. These cancellations took place on departures and arrivals.
The weather can be attributed to the last tropical storm Claudette moving into the area while the construction work reduces flight operations when there is low visibility. Less than a week ago 42 arriving flights had to be cancelled for the same reasons: bad weather and on-going construction. To help with the backlog there were a number of flights that were send to Gander instead and then buses were brought in to take the passengers from Gander to St. John's.
