A South African Airways spokesperson said that Flight SA286, using a Airbus A340-300, was on route from Johannesburg to Hong Kong on July 15 when it hit a patch of turbulence over Kuala Lumpur. Medical assistance was ordered to stand by at the airport and after the aircraft landed safely, and 25 of the 165 passengers were treated in addition to three crew members.
