Indonesia AirAsia X is upping its game when it comes to competing with Virgin Australia and has just announced plans to offer non-stop flights from Sydney to Bali five times a week. The new route will begin in October. This announcement comes at a critical time for Virgin Australia as the airline has been going through problems with its international operations and working hard to make it profitable once again.
"At the end of the day competition is going to benefit both the passengers and the (airline) players," said Dendy Kurniawan, Indonesia AirAsia X chief executive.
To celebrate the new route, Indonesia AirAsia X is offering one-way fares priced at $399 in the premium flat-bed seats and $119 in economy class. The flights will take place on an A330-300 aircraft which seats more than 377 passengers.
