Some time after leaving Calgary on Flight AC009, headed to Japan, a Canadian woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl over the Pacific Ocean on Sunday. Physicians who were on the plane aided in the birth, and a ground-based medical team helped as well. The plane touched down 30 minutes ahead of schedule after being given priority for landing. The mother, 23 years old, was take to the hospital with the baby. The parents named the baby Chloe.
Air Canada allows pregnant women to fly as long as they are no more than 36 weeks pregnant. There were no reports as to the baby’s gestational age at time of birth.
