Delta Airline will now be able to have a stronger presence in London through a joint venture with Virgin Atlantic. Delta has bought a 49% stake in Virgin and the joint venture includes an agreement to share all costs for all shared flights, regardless of which airline’s planes are used.
The new joint venture will mean that there will be 31 daily round-trip flights between North America and the UK. Nine of those flights will be Heathrow, London, and either JFK International Airport in New York or Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey. This is a big break for Delta, which wanted more access to London.
