Starting on July 25, Armavia Airlines will begin operating additional flights from the holy city to Yerevan. These new flights will be a welcome addition to the Armavia schedule as they will increase the international connectivity of Amritsar and it would be of great benefit for Punjabis who live in Europe. Suneel Dutt, director of Sree Guru Ram Das International Airport, said the airline will operate two flights per week on the Yerevan-Amritsar-Yerevan route. He adds that from Yerevan, passengers will be able to get connecting flights to Birmingham, Milan, and Rome
While the flights are initially scheduled to operate twice per week, the airport plans on requesting that the airline increase the number of flights per week to four. There are already connecting flights to London, Dubai, and Doha. Dutt has stressed the importance of the airport's mission to increase international connectivity in order to benefit the citizens of Amritsar. In addition, SpiceJet recently announced that they would increase operations on their Amritsar-Srinagar route.
