Last week, Norwegian Airlines was pleased to launch their new long-haul flights from Oslo and Stockholm Arlanda to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and from Oslo to Bangkok. The flights have been planned with the use of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, but these aircraft are not yet ready. In the meantime, Norwegian will be using Airbus A340-300 that they will lease from the European company HiFly.
The delivery of Norwegian’s first Boeing 787 is set for later this month and will be ready for flight by August. Two others will be delivered to the airline later this year, four are expected to be delivered in 2014, and one more will be delivered in 2015. Norwegian CEO Bjørn Kjos said they are very happy about the great reception they have had regarding their flights and they are excited to welcome their first customers from New York.
