The last flight of Continental Airlines landed in Houston's Bush IAH on Saturday, marking the end of an era. As of Saturday at 1:00 am, Continental's website was shut down and their bookings merged with the United Airlines system. Continental Airlines will now be known as United Airlines, but Continental serviced the Houston region for 80 years, which is a lifetime for some residents. Jack Harty, who grew up in Houston, is 16 years old and loves planes. He has always had planes fly over his house.
Harty also has a passion for photography and he spent much time photographing Continental's planes. He started travelling with his parents at a young age and fell in love with flying. Continental has always been his preferred airline. The final Continental flight touched down in Houston, arriving from Tokyo, the United logo already on the plane. The crew was given a traditional water cannon salute and some of Continental's history has been captured in Harty's photography.
