WestJet has apologized to travellers after canceling a flight to London Gatwick from Toronto twice this weekend because of maintenance problems. The first cancelation was Friday, when Flight 3 was canceled because of what the airline called a “non-scheduled maintenance issue” and then again Saturday because of “completion of the maintenance.” The airline gave meal and hotel vouchers to the passengers affected, and apologized. WestJet created another flight segment and booked remaining guests on another carrier.
No one would give official numbers of how many passengers are affected, but a 767 holds around 260 guests, so that adds up to quite a few people to keep happy. Some have tweeted their disappointment and anger, saying their vacation has been ruined.
