Lansing airport losing at least one international flight
Lansing’s DeWitt Township airport is going to lose at least one vacation destination flight this year due to the struggle for travel agencies to find available planes. The seasonal flight to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic has already been dropped and flights to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico might also be lost. Punta Cana is the third seasonal destination flight to be removed from the airport’s roster in two years. Flights to Orlando and Jamaica were also dropped. by Sun Country Airlines for Apple Vacations but Allegiant Air started its own route from Capital Region to Orlando.
Apple Vacations, based in Newton Square, PA, said it is having trouble finding carriers with planes available. Seasonal service has been cut in half. partly due to airline mergers.
