According to the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA), on Wednesday both domestic and international flights were disrupted in Taipei as Typhoon Saola swept through the region. By 11:00 am seven international flights were had been cancelled, including flights to Fuzhou, Hanoi, Tokyo, and Ho Chi Minh City. Five domestic flights to northern Taiwan had also been cancelled due to strong winds.
China Airlines, the largest carrier in Taiwan, said that prior to noon none of their flights were disrupted. Two local airlines also faired well, with Far Eastern Air Transport not expecting disruptions to their schedule before 6:00 pm and Eva Airways not expecting any disruptions before midnight. By 3:00 pm the storm's center was located 170 km east of the city and was expected to bring torrential rain and high winds later in the day.
